Oslo, Norway (AP) Norwegian and Somali leaders will hold independence days in Somali independence days on Nov. 25 and 26 in the capital, Mogadishu.
President Mohamed Abdullahi Mohamed told a crowd in Mogadishuk on Monday that the two nations are “close friends” and have an “unfortunate history.”
He said Somalis “will have a full, fair, peaceful, democratic, and just Somalia.”
Somalis have been fighting an eight-year war since their independence from Ethiopia in 1991.
They have faced a decades-long conflict that has killed more than 200,000 people and displaced tens of millions.
